Inflation in Serbia measured by the consumer price index was 1.4 percent in January, the state Statistical Office said in a statement Wednesday.

Year-to-year inflation was 11.2 percent in January, according to the statement.
Consumer prices in 2010 rose by an average of 6.5 percent from 2009.
In January, the biggest price hikes were recorded in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (7.7 percent), transport (2.4 percent), food and soft drinks (1.9 percent) and education (1.3 percent), while prices of communication services dropped 1.7 percent.
The prices of other products and services did not see significant changes.
