MUP becomes member of International Organization for Combating Drugs

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia (MUP) became a member of the International Organization for Combating Drugs, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said Monday.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia (MUP) became a member of the International Organization for Combating Drugs, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said Monday.

He told reporters that representatives of the Serbian Interior Ministry will participate in April in the work of the organization, which is sponsored by the US Agency for Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Dacic recalled that during his visit to the US in February, he and DEA Director Michele Leonheart reached agreement on cooperation in the fight against international organized crime, especially narcotics.

In April this year, a World Congress of all structures involved in the fight against narcotics will be organized in Mexico.

Earlier in the day, Dacic received a donation in computer network security equipment from US Ambassador to Serbia Mary Warlick.

The donation is aimed at strengthening capacity to fight illicit drug trafficking.
