Spokesman of European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmstrom, who is also in charge of transport, borders and visas, Marcin Grabiec stated that there is no initiative in the EU for the abolishment of Serbia's visa liberalization.

Provided Belgium requests suspension of visa liberalization, the issue would have to be discussed and endorsed by all member states, the spokesman of the European commissioner stated for the Belgrade-based radio and television B92.

The experts are expected to publish a report on the degree to which Serbia respects the obligations regarding the visa free regime. In case the number of asylum seekers continues to grow, certain countries may request implementation of a mechanism for interim suspension of the visa liberalization.
