Head of the EU delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert and Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic will sign Wednesday a framework agreement on Serbia's participation in EU peacekeeping missions.
This framework agreement is one of the most important documents that Serbia will sign with the EU in the domain of Common Security and Defence Policy, the EU delegation to Belgrade released.
The statement recalls that during her visit to Belgrade on April 26, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton signed with Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic the security agreement that stipulates procedures for the exchange and protection of classified information, which is a prerequisite for the participation of Serbia's military and police in EU peacekeeping missions.
On that occasion, Ashton announced the signing of an agreement on Serbia's participation in EU operations, which would bring the country a step closer to the EU.
Serbia is one of 20 countries, which have signed this agreement with the EU, or are negotiating its signing, the release reads.
