Seven Serbian films compete for title of Serbia's candidate for Oscar

The expert committee of the Serbian Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science will adopt a decision by August 31 regarding the country's candidate for the 84th annual U.S. Academy Awards and the list of runners for the candidate position includes seven feature films, the Serbian Film Centre (FCS) released on Friday.

Serbia's candidate for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2011 will be chosen among Lazar Ristovski's White Lions, Oleg Novkovic's White, White World, Ljubisa Samardzic's Scent of Rain in the Balkans, Dragan Bjelogrlic's Montevideo, God Bless You, Dejan Zecevic's Enemy, Nikola Lezaic's Tilva Rosh and Stevan Filipovic's Haircut.
According to FCS data, out of 20 films that applied for the competition, these seven meet the standards set by the U.S. and Serbian Academy.
The expert board will review the films from August 26 to 30 and the decision on the country's candidate would be adopted by August 31 so that the producer could prepare the film in keeping with technical regulations and submit it to the U.S. Academy by October 1, the release states.
