Dinar to plummet by 0.6 %, rate 117.27 for EUR 1

The Serbian dinar will record a sharp drop of 0.6 percent against the euro on Friday and during the weekend, setting the official middle exchange rate at EUR 117.2740 for EUR 1, in spite of the fact that the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) sold EUR 60 million.
The Serbian dinar will record a sharp drop of 0.6 percent against the euro on Friday and during the weekend, setting the official middle exchange rate at EUR 117.2740 for EUR 1, in spite of the fact that the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) sold EUR 60 million.
Since the beginning of the year, the central bank sold a total of one billion and 181.2 million euros on the interbank foreign exchange market, Friday's intervention included, to alleviate the excessive daily volatility of the exchange rate.
In 2012, the dinar hit its highest level against the single European currency on January 11 with the exchange rate at RSD 103.6922, and since the beginning of the year, the dinar slid against the euro by 10.8 percent.
The dinar is 4.6 percent down on this time last month, and 17.5 percent down on the year. On Thursday, the indicative dinar-versus-dollar rate was 94.6827, down 0.6 percent from the day before. The dinar weakened against the U.S. dollar by 10.8 percent when compared to the level a month ago, and by 29.2 percent if compared to a year ago. Since the beginning of the year, the dinar recorded a 14.6 percent drop against the U.S. currency.
