Serbian tourists who are currently in Tunisia are safe and far from the scene of the riots which shook the country in recent days, Tanjug was told at the Serbian Embassy in Tunisia.
"We are constantly in touch with our tourist guides in Sousse and Hammamet, and no tourists have been injured, no one is in danger or near danger," Tanjug was told.
The embassy explained that the Serbian tourists are staying at well-protected hotel complexes, mostly in Sousse and Hammamet, and that "no one is planning to cut their vacation short" due to the new situation.
At least 50 people have been killed in riots that erupted in several cities in Tunisia in the past few days, which are caused by growing resentment over rising prices, high unemployment and corruption.
