European Day of Jewish Culture to be held in FYR Macedonia

Besides the Jewish Community in the Republic of Macedonia, the Spanish Embassy in the country joins this is year’s marking with an exhibition of photographs entitled ‘Caminos de Sefardi’ and Cair municipality in frames of project for revival of the Skopje Old Bazaar.

The 5th European Day of Jewish Culture will be held Saturday in Skopje.

The event is organised in 27 countries in Europe and takes place every year on the first Sunday in September. The subject matter of this year is ‘Art & Judaism.’

Besides the Jewish Community in the Republic of Macedonia, the Spanish Embassy in the country joins this is year’s marking with an exhibition of photographs entitled ‘Caminos de Sefardi’ and Cair municipality in frames of project for revival of the Skopje Old Bazaar.

Multimedia programme including recital and Sephardic romances are foreseen within the event.

- The vision is to acquaint with material and cultural values, what existed in the past and what we have today. To remember the hope, faith and truth of a nation that cherishes for centuries its cultural identity, reads the press release.
