The traffic authorities have imposed restrictions on traffic for Southern Bulgaria due to the snowfall which started last night.
All vehicles are required to have tyre chains in Smolyan Region. Trucks are not allowed to have trailers and semi-trailers.
The snow cover was 10 cm in the area of Rozhen and Pamporovo in the Rhodope Mountain Monday noon, and over 15 cm in the nearby Zlatograd.
Vehicles without tire chains are not allowed through the Ilinden-Exochi border crossing on the Bulgarian-Greek border, and identical restrictions will be enforced for the border crossing at Zlatograd, as the approached to both checkpoints are steep with lots of hazardous curves.
The road between Gotse Delchev and Sandanski through Papaz Chair is closed for trucks with attachments.
In Sofia, all thoroughfares are clear of snow and 150 snow-ploughs are ready to join the snow cleaning.
