Romania gives unreserved support to Macedonia's integration in the European Union and NATO, but decisions are passed collectively by all member-states and therefore the name row should be solved, said Romanian President Traian Basescu after Thursday's meeting with Macedonian counterpart Gjorge Ivanov.
"Romania cannot decide on its own over the NATO or EU accession. Such a decision is passed collectively by all member-states in the two organizations. Regardless of the Macedonia-Greece developments, Romania will always provide unreserved support to Macedonia's accession in NATO and EU", stressed Basescu.
President Ivanov voiced gratitude for Romania's support on Macedonia's Euro-Atlantic integration path.
"It is in our interest that this support by Romania with regards to Macedonia's EU and NATO integration resumes with the same intensity", said Ivanov.
Bilateral agreements in the field of scientific, economic and technical cooperation, as well as in field of tourism, were signed in the presence of the countries' presidents.
Moreover, President Ivanov was presented with an honorary doctorate at the Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University.
