The heads of municipalities in northern Kosmet say they will be maximally flexible in reaching solutions to the Brnjak and Jarinje administrative lines which are to enable the removal of barricades and the fulfillment of a condition for the commencement of Serbia’s talks with the EU.

The head of the Kosovska Mitrovica District, Radenko Nedeljković, said the Serbs wanted the situation at Brnjak and Jarinje to be restored to the one before July 25, when there were no Kosovo customs officers and police there.

We do not want to act against the state, but the state should realize our position as this moment is key for our survival, said Nedeljković,warning that the cancellation of Serbian institutions in northern Kosmet meant that Serbs would continue leaving the province. He believes a solution will be found, though.

The president of Leposavić Municipality, Branko Ninić, believes it would be very difficult to explain ti people that they should leave the barricades and accept Kosovo customs officers and police at Brnjak and Jarinje.
