The talks between representatives of Serbia and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of the sixth review of the stand-by arrangement will be extended for another several days instead of the original plan to complete them today, Tanjug learned at the Finance Ministry.

The talks between representatives of Serbia and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as part of the sixth review of the stand-by arrangement will be extended for another several days instead of the original plan to complete them today, Tanjug learned at the Finance Ministry.

The ministry did not specify the reasons for extending the talks with the IMF mission, while Deputy Prime Minister for the Pension System Reform Jovan Krkobabic told Tanjug that he had discussed with the IMF the pension bill that was withdrawn from the parliament procedure last week and that a final agreement is expected on Tuesday.

“If the IMF accepts some parts of the act to be amended, we will amend them, but there are no changes for now,” said Krkobabic.

He also said that the talks with the IMF should lead to a sustainable pension system that would satisfy all.

The Serbian government withdrew the Draft amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance last week under the pressure of the trade unions, who demanded certain changes, protection measures being among the most important ones.
