From the Strategic Planning Committee’s meeting, where the 2011’s budget was discussed, Prime Minister Sali Berisha guaranteed that the public debt is within normal parameters and there is no reason for concern.
By considering the Eurobond loan, which has an interest rate of 7.5 percent, as very important, Berisha mentioned an example from medicine to better explain the actual situation of the public debt.
“If the debts would be classified into positive and negative debts, Albania’s debt is the most positive debt in Europe, because 35 percent of it has been taken in the country’s currency. The other part is a debt of the non-private, financial, international institutions. The reduction of the debt will be a gradual process,” said Berisha.
Head of the government analyzed in details the next year’s budget, where he guaranteed the increase of wages and pensions. Education, health and infrastructure, especially the rural infrastructure, will be the priorities of the financial law for next year. He also noted the big projects that will also be part of 2011’s budget.
“This budget will support even other projects; it will support the construction of the new parliament and Tirana’s new stadium,” said Berisha. Another important work that will be included in the 2011’s budget is the Tirane-Elbasan tunnel. The tender for this project will be concluded within November 2010.
