Serbia has increased its export to Germany by 16.3 percent in the first eight months of 2010, mainly owing to the metal industry - steel and non-ferrous materials.

Referring to the data of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS), the Deutsche Welle reported that, within that period, Serbia exported goods worth EUR 488.7 million to Germany. Serbia has a rather good trade with Germany, Director of the PKS office in Frankfurt Milanka Vucic stated for Deutsche Welle.

According to her, it is particularly significant that "the increase of export was achieved during the crisis years, and the increase of 16.3 percent is quite a good result."

When one analyzes the data on Serbia's current export to Germany, they are a huge surprise, economist Miroslav Zdravkovic stated for Deutsche Welle.

These data somehow break the stereotypes of Serbia as a country which only exports fruit and agricultural products, Zdravkovic said. Serbia is now increasingly penetrating the German market with the products of metal and electric industries, he assessed.
