According to expectations, the institutional crisis in Kosovo may enter a new phase on Tuesday, since the bringing down of the remaining part of the government headed by Hasim Taci has been announced at the Kosovo parliament.
This will enable Acting Kosovo President Jakup Krasnici to call elections in the next several days, which, in accordance with the Kosovo Constitution, would be held within 45 days at the latest.
The motion of no confidence in the government was launched by the New Kosovo Alliance party, which collected 40 MPs' signatures, whereas it takes a total of 61 MP's votes for the bringing down of the government.
If the proposal for the toppling of the government was passed, this would initiate a process which would result in pulling Kosovo out of the institutional crisis started by the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo's leaving of the coalition government with Hasim Taci's Democratic Party of Kosovo in October.
The bringing down of the government was indirectly announced by Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Taci himself in his address to the public on Monday, in which he said that the entire situation will be solved by the calling of early elections.
The toppling of the government will be followed by the dissolution of the parliament and holding of elections in December.
