After electing its new president (Dilma Rousseff of the Workers' Party) in the second round of elections on October 31, Brazil will certainly continue to maintain friendly relations with Serbia, after visibly strengthening its cooperation with the country over the recent years, Brazilian Ambassador to Serbia Dante Coelho de Lima said.

When it comes to Brazil's foreign policy, Ambassador de Lima told Tanjug that he is positive Brazil will continue to maintain friendly relations with countries like Serbia, adding that the relations between the two countries have already visibly strengthened.

Pointing to indicators of good relations between Brazil and Serbia, the ambassador particularly mentioned the visit of Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim to Serbia in mid-June this year, and that of Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic to Brazil at the beginning of the same month.

To that end, he also pointed to the improvement in economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador De Lima also announced that the Brazilian Defense Minister Nelson Jobim will come to Belgrade on the last week of November, and that Serbian President Boris Tadic has the invitation of current Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to visit the largest Latin American state as head of a business delegation.

According to the Brazilian ambassador, this will greatly contribute to opening new possibilities and identifying new areas for cooperation.
