Kosovo's new government will pay attention to the requests of Serbs only to the extent the USA and EU require it to do, State Secretary in the Ministry for Kosovo Oliver Ivanovic has said, adding that no one doubts that the party of Hasim Taci will win the parliamentary elections in Kosovo called for Dec 12.
Ivanovic, who made rather accurate forecasts for the election held in November 2007, said in a statement published by Politika that Taci will win 34 or 35 parliament seats for its PDK and will, as prime minister designate, most likely form a coalition with the Alliance for New Kosovo of Bedzet Pacoli (AKP) if it manages to win seven or eight seats.
Beside Pacoli, Taci would also form a coalition with non-Albanians (Roma, Bosniaks, Ashkali.guaranteed 10) and Serbs (guaranteed 10), and if non-Albanians win another seat or two, his coalition would then have between 63 and 65 seats, said Ivanovic.
In case Pacoli, who according to surveys does not stand all that well, does not win enough seats, a coalition of the ODK (35) with the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo of Rasum Haradinaj (AAK 13 seats), and non-Albanians (Roma, Bosniaks, Ashkali.) and with seven Serbs is possible, because Ivanovic believes that in this case
Taci would not take all the Serbs. According to Ivanovic, a coalition with Sejdiu's LDK, with several people from the group of "others" and some Serbs, which would secure a majority of 71 seats, should not be ruled out.
