Bradic said at a press conference held at the Ministry of Culture for the occasion that this Ministry supports the festival because it integrates in the best way the well-known authors and those who are just entering the world of cinematography.

This concept makes this festival important for international linking of Serbia as well, the Minister noted.

He announced that this year’s programme will be expanded by opening the House of writers, as it has also been done in other places in the Year of the book and language.

The idea is that playwrights and screenwriters get together and create new movies and the Ministry of Culture will try to finance the production of the best screenplays.

All foreign authors who find motives in the Serbian literature for filming, or inspiration for original work, will be able to apply for one-month stay in the Residence of screenwriters and playwrights as of next year, the Minister said.

Bradic said that Kusturica will invite young writers and screenwriters to focus on the work of Ivo Andric since next year is dedicated to observation of 50 years since Ivo Andric received the Nobel Prize for literature.

Emir Kusturica recalled that the festival was created with the idea to encourage young authors, who compete with their short films, with encounters with well-known artists.

He added that the function of Küstendorf has its practical usage on the market since two awarded authors have started working of their first feature-length movie.
