Half-truths are the worst lies, says the Council of Europe special rapporteur and Swiss MEP Dick Marty stressing that his findings included in the report on "alleged accusations for trafficking in human organs in Kosovo" would help in revealing the truth.
Half-truths are the worst lies, says the Council of Europe special rapporteur and Swiss MEP Dick Marty stressing that his findings included in the report on "alleged accusations for trafficking in human organs in Kosovo" would help in revealing the truth.
"The truth cannot be imposed by external powers. It should be known that the Balkan will never have a peaceful and constructive future if it is build on inconsistencies and half-truths," Dick Marty has told MIA.
After the Council of Europe overwhelmingly endorsed his resolution, but Albanian politicians kept on criticizing him, the Swiss diplomat says the report "is neither against the people of Kosovo, nor the Albanian people, nor in favour of Serbia."
"The report is against the violation of human and fundamental rights enshrined by the European Convention on Human Rights. We know that it hurts to unveil the truth and condemn injustices," he stresses.
Commenting calls by certain Albanian politicians in Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia to collect signatures against the report, the Swiss MEP says he has nothing against them and is willing to meet up with them to elaborate the report. "I believe they haven't event read the report, which is being used for manipulation."
Senator Marty adds that he doesn't know if his report would allow certain incoherencies involving the 2001 war conflict in Macedonia to be clarified.
Speaking to MIA, he urges Macedonia to tell "the whole truth" surrounding the "abduction" of German national Khalid El-Masri, which was the focal point of his report on illegal activities conducted by CIA on the territory of CoE countries.
"It is absolutely necessary the truth to be revealed about the El-Masri case. Macedonia has nothing to lose, on the contrary its reputation could be only improved if it told the truth," Marty adds.
