Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic stated Tuesday that Serbia's EU accession has no alternative, stressing the government's historical responsibility to enable the country to fulfill the conditions for EU membership candidacy.

Opening the Kopaonik Business Forum 2011, Cvetkovic said that the EU membership is not obtained by a geographic position, but is rather something that the country has to earn.

About 500 participants, more than 70 of whom will take part in working panels, are representatives of the government and the business community, foreign ambassadors and economic experts from Serbia and the surrounding countries gathered on Kopaonik, a mountain in central Serbia, on Tuesday for a three-day business forum.
