Political Director of the Foreign Ministry Borislav Stefanovic stated that the participation of Serbia's representatives in the USA-Balkans Business Summit in Baltimore, U.S., would be harmful at this point, as it would undermine the state policy on Kosovo-Metohija.

Political Director of the Foreign Ministry Borislav Stefanovic stated that the participation of Serbia's representatives in the USA-Balkans Business Summit in Baltimore, U.S., would be harmful at this point, as it would undermine the state policy on Kosovo-Metohija.

Stefanovic told the B92 that Serbia's representatives would have to share the table with Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Taci, before whom there would be a name plate saying 'the Republic of Kosovo.'

According to daily Danas, President Tadic and Prime Minister Cvetkovic cancelled their attendance at the USA-Balkans Business Summit, and Serbian businessmen are advised against going to Baltimore, where Kosovo will be represented by Taci.

Admitting that this is a significant event which could bring economic benefits to Serbia, Stefanovic pointed out that this is a business conference, adding that "it is not true that all countries will be represented by their respective presidents or prime ministers."

"We have long discussed with our American partners the issue of the summit, all the while trying to find a format which would enable Serbia's efficient participation. At the beginning everything seemed fine, but unfortunately for us, things changed to our detriment," he said.

"Our reaction was in accordance with the policy we pursued so far," he underscored.
