Several unions gathering workers of Telekom Srbija, a government owned telecommunications company, staged a protest on Saturday against the company's announced sale.
The protesters delivered a letter to the government, claiming the company could operate on its own.
The leader of one of the unions, Slavoljub Kandic, thinks the sale will result in higher prices for the services the company provides and threaten the workers' position.
The government will get EUR 800 million from the sale," said Miroslav Joksimovic, another union president, adding that the company could earn EUR 300 million annually after the loan that was used to buy Telekom Srpska, its Republika Srpska counterpart, is paid out.
