New Serbia (NS) deputy leader Dubravka Filipovski said Tuesday that opposition parties, led by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) are continuing with protests across Serbia, and that the next rally will be held March 26 in Zrenjanin.
At a news conference called by her party, Filipovski said the protests are continuing because the Democratic Party (DS) turned down the invitation to talk about holding early parliamentary elections.
The NS deputy leader announced that the next opposition rally will take place in Zrenjanin, and that protests across Serbia show that pressure on the ruling coalition is continuing, despite its claims "that the opposition will not go ahead with the protests."
Filipovski welcomed the upcoming visit of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to Belgrade, noting that it will hopefully be used to improve economic relations and attract more Russian investments in energy.
NS deputy leader Jovan Maric agreed with her, adding that Serbia needs to look not only to Europe and the United States, but also to Russia, China and non-allied countries.
Filipovski urged the government not to sell Telekom Serbia, and pointed out that only one bid at Monday's tender (from Telekom Austria) shows "the Serbian officials's statements that major companies are interested in Telekom hold no weight."
