Serbia's Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic said Thursday Kosovo has no right to any property of the former Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia, whether that property is in Serbia or in any of the other former republics.

The succession agreement, which the countries of the former Yugoslavia signed in 2001, was not signed by Kosovo, as an autonomous  province of Serbia, and so it cannot take part in the property distribution, Bogdanovic noted.

This is another attempt of the Kosovo authorities to divert attention from the opposition's criticism regarding the negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, said Bogdanovic, describing the attempt as a farce.

Serbia gave USD 1 million on a daily basis to Kosovo, which received around USD 30 billion over the course of the last three decades, he stressed.

He thinks there should be talks about what happened to Serbian companies in Kosovo, adding that Serbia also has property in Montenegro and that there are ongoing negotiations about its return.

The minister believes the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina is a good thing that could lead to a compromise and provide solutions for everyday issues of the Serb and Albanian population.

Serbia will never recognize Kosovo's independence, he underlined. Bogdanovic expects the fourth round of negotiations, scheduled for mid-May, to result in a compromise on the issues of electricity, water, general register, cadastre, registration plates, documents and telecommunications.

Serbia does not want a division of Kosovo, but is prepared to discuss it if an opportunity arises, he stated.
