Poland, as the host of the 17th summit of the heads of Central and Eastern European states, met the request of Slovakian President Ivan Gasparovic that Kosovo should nowhere be designated as an independent state.
Participation in the summit, where they had an opportunity to meet US President Obama, was rejected by Serbian President Boris Tadic and Romanian President Trajan Basescu because the Kosovo president had been invited to the summit.
Gasparovic confirmed that his request had been met and there were no state symbols of Kosovo nor was the name and office of the Kosovo president written anywhere during the summit.
