The recruitment of members of the special team for leading the investigation into the trading of human organs is nearing its end and the team is expected to commence work soon, EULEX Spokesperson Kai Mueller Berner said on Aug. 22.

"Recruitment is being finalized. We expect the task force to start its work shortly, building on the preliminary investigation that EULEX has started," Mueller Berner told BETA.

She could not precisely state when the team would begin working.

"We are taking the necessary steps for the task force to proceed promptly with its investigation. We have received assurances of support from relevant actors in both Tirana and Belgrade," added Mueller Berner.

The report by special rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Dick Marty on the trading of organs of kidnapped Serbs, which was adopted by the Council of Europe, states that the toplevel leadership of the former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), including current Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, was involved in that criminal activity.
