Nine people die in Egypt accident

19 Russians, five Germans, two Ukrainians, two people from Belarus, two from Turkey, two from Denmark, one from Belgium, one from the Czech Republic, one from Georgia and one Egyptian were injured in the bus accident.

According to the updated information, nine people died in the bus accident in Egypt overnight.

The bodies of six victims are in Ras Gharib and three bodies are in Hurghada, the chief physician at Hurghada central hospital said.

There is no exact information about nationalities of the victims. However, all the documents are transferred from the hospital to Cairo, and the situation may be cleared up soon. According to Egyptian sources, among the victims are three Russians. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has confirmed two Ukrainians died and two were injured.

Tourists of ten nationalities were injured in the accident.

A spokesman for the Cairo hospital, to which 36 injured people were taken on Saturday morning, said that 19 Russians, five Germans, two Ukrainians, two people from Belarus, two from Turkey, two from Denmark, one from Belgium, one from the Czech Republic, one from Georgia and one Egyptian were injured in the bus accident.

The youngest is 21 years old, and the oldest is 61. Among the Russians are nine women. They are in moderately severe and non-heavy condition. None of them is in very grave condition. They have injuries and cuts.

The bus carrying foreign tourists got out of control, ran off the road and overturned. It occurred at the 25th kilometre of the Ras Gharib-Zaafarana highway between Cairo and Hurghada.

According to the updated information, the driver did not notice another bus standing at the road. The bus without identification marks was from Upper Egypt. The driver at the last moment attempted to avoid a collision. Witnesses say the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
