The US led and won wars in Bosnia and Kosovo, similar to the one it is currently fighting in Afghanistan, US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke said in Doha.

At the US-Islamic Forum in Qatar, Holbrooke drew parallels between the Bosnian war and the onslaught against the Taliban in Afghanistan, reported daily Peninsula.

"The US has led and won similar wars in Kosova and Bosnia with the support of the international community. And we are very optimistic about Afghanistan too," Holbrooke pointed out.

Holbrooke criticized the media for terming the operations in Afghanistan a "Clash of Civiliazions", adding that the overall objective of the Afghan initiative is to help the country rebuild after its 30 years of horrific conflicts.
