The situation in Shkodra continues being critical. Even though the water level has decreased by nearly 20 centimeters on Tuesday, living in this area is still not possible. Nearly 14,000 hectares of land are still covered by water, 2600 houses are completely under water and 14,000 citizens have been evacuated from their houses.

The Emergency Unit, its structures and the military forces continue evacuations, even though not with the same intensity. Now, the most important problem is that of water and food supply not only in communes, but even in the internal part of the city.

“We clearly know the problems of the city. We have many-floor buildings, and distribution of food is not easy. Today we made a re-organization of all units and communes, which face different problems. Another important aspect of this community is its livestock. The necessary aid is being distributed even in these areas, and it does not include only food for people, but even for animals,” said Prefect of the district of Shkodra, Mexhit Cungu.

Tuesday was a day of hope for many citizens. The Bridge of Buna became accessible only from the military authorities. Some of Obot’s inhabitants, who were evacuated, have now returned to Fshati i Qete.

“We are talking about 45 persons, which are part of 8 families. They have all the necessary conditions. Food has mainly come from Karitas; only once it came from the municipality of Shkodra. Of course it was too little for 45 persons,” said Dede Mirashi from the Peace Center.

Even though the water level has decreased in Buna River and in the Lake of Shkodra, Shiroka and Zogar are still unreachable from people. Besides the suburban areas, movement is still too difficult. Citizens of Ajasem and Xhabije neighborhoods are trying to provide boats in order to get food and save the last remains of businesses, which have not yet been destroyed.
