The Illicit Drug Trafficking Unit within the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the Department for Covert Operations within Austria's Federal Criminal Police Office, as well as the Croatian and Hungarian police services, took part in an international operation for breaking a narcotics smuggling ring in Austria.

The operation began on the grounds of information obtained by Macedonian officials in charge of combating narcotics trafficking.

Five kilos of high-quality cocaine were seized in the operation, with four individuals - three Hungarian and one Ukrainian nationals - were arrested in the process.

The suspects procured the drugs in the Netherlands, transferring it to Hungary and afterwards in Austria. They have taken part in other organized drug transports from the Netherlands into Austria and Hungary, said MoI in a press release.
