“MK Group” doesn't plan import of genetically modified seed in the future

“MK Group” and its member companies do not plan import of genetically modified seed in the future, and all business activities related to the seed import will be in accordance with the legal regulations of the Republic of Serbia, which are harmonised with the EU regulations.
Regarding reports in the media stating that “MK Group” is the importer and distributor of a hybrid seed of “Monsanto”, “MK Group” company wishes to inform the public on the following facts:
- · The agreement with “MK Group” inked in 2007 with US-based “Monsanto”, a global leader in seed production, is in force and is executed in accordance with the legal regulations of the Republic of Serbia;
- · The subject of the concluded agreement is not and cannot be genetically modified seed, but only the best-quality hybrid seed of maize and other agricultural sorts, which has resulted in exceptionally high yields in previous years and is exceptionally appreciated by Serbian farmers;
- · “MK Seeds” d.o.o. Novi Sad, a member of “MK Group”, imports the seed of “Monsanto” in accordance with the concluded agreement and the legal regulations of the Republic of Serbia, which van the import of genetically modified seed;
- · Biased media reports, which indirectly insinuate that the import refers to genetically modified seed, are clearly induced by unfair competition, to which business ethics is not a virtue;
- · “MK Group” and its member companies do not plan import of genetically modified seed in the future, and all business activities related to the seed import will be in accordance with the legal regulations of the Republic of Serbia, which are harmonised with the EU regulations.
