DRI: Proceedings against 2009 budget beneficiaries

President of the State Audit Institution (DRI) Radoslav Sretenovic stated on Thursday that by the end of the month, the DRI will launch proceedings against 2009 budget beneficiaries who violated the regulations.
Sretenovic announced that the Serbian parliament Finance Board will discuss the Report on 2009 budget revision at its the Friday session, after which the DRI should initiate proceedings against beneficiaries who violated procedures and whose business operations turn out to be illegal.
The DRI president reminded that irregularities have been established in all inspected ministries.
The DRI carried out an inspection into the way the 2009 budget was used, which covered around 70 percent of revenues, and established that most cases involved violations of the Law on the Budget System and the Public Procurement Law.
The inspection was carried out in seven ministries, including Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Agriculture Ministry, Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, Ministry of Science and Technological Development, Finance Ministry, Ministry of Infrastructure, as well as in the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) and the Treasury. Only the NBS of all the inspected institutions received a positive assessment.
