Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic and Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Toshio Tsunozaki opened yesterday a Japanese Garden in Vrnjacka Banja.

On this occasion Jeremic expressed his admiration for the Japanese people for, as he said, stoic endurance of the tragedy that befell it.

Despite the tragedy they suffered, all donations and projects funded by the Japanese government will remain in force so today we are opening a park in which all visitors will be able to experience a specific peace which makes our friendly people of Japan very special, the Minister underlined.

Tsunozaki expressed his gratitude to the citizens of Serbia who sent many messages of sympathy and gave their whole-hearted support to the Japanese people in the previous three months.

I believe that our people will rebuild its country and normalise life as soon as possible, Tsunozaki said.

At around 30 acres of the central park in Vrnjacka Banja, the beauty of the Far East is represented with the traditional architectural and building solutions, symbols and plant species characteristic of Japan.

The furnishing of the garden cost around RSD 12 million and the funds were secured in equal amounts by the Japanese Embassy and Vrnjacka Banja municipality.
