A few hundred people fled Indonesian city Yogyakarta because of the muddy sludge that is sliding down the slopes of Mount Merapi, where one of the most dangerous Indonesia’s volcanoes is situated.
Endangered people live along the banks of the Code River which flows from the base of Mount Merapi through Yogyakarta, situated 30 kilometers away from the mountain, National Disaster Management Agency official Slamet Sugiono said.
According to him, about 400 people fled their homes, since heavy drops of rain triggered the muddy flow which raced down the slopes at the speed of 100 kph and flooded houses, the AP Agency reported.
The volcano at Mount Merapi became activate on October 26, when 341 persons were killed.
