Ahead of the meeting of the EU Council for General Affairs, which gathers foreign ministers and minister for European affairs of EU member countries, the minister expressed hope that everything would turn out well and that an agreement would be reached on the final text of the document which is currently being discussed. He also believes that the European Council meeting on June 23 would be very important both for Europe and Croatia.
The agenda of the meeting also includes the issue of completion of accession talks with Croatia.
EU members still have to reach an agreement on modalities and modes of monitoring with regard to Croatia's fulfilment of obligations in the period from the completion of talks to EU accession and the potential consequences in case the country fails to implement the promised processes, Croatian news agency HINA reported.
During the summit late this week, the European Council should adopt the political decision regarding the closing of Croatia's accession talks.
