The Ministry for the Diaspora announced that an organising committee for the establishment of the first association of the Serbian community in Bulgaria was founded in Sofia.

The Ministry for the Diaspora announced that an organising committee for the establishment of the first association of the Serbian community in Bulgaria was founded in Sofia.

The statement says that the Association of Serbs in Bulgaria will be officially established and registered by the end of February.

Minister for the Diaspora Srdjan Sreckovic stressed the importance of organising an association of the Serbian community in Bulgaria.

He stressed that the support of their home country to the Diaspora and Serbs living in the region will also encourage the overall development of Serbia.

According to official data, some 1,500 Serbs are living in Bulgaria, mostly in Sofia.
