The number of Serbian citizens seeking asylum in Germany in April this year was 227, in March 334, and in February 365, the ministry said.

Citizens of Serbia this year submitted a total of 1,440 asylum applications, which means that Serbia, after Afghanistan and Iraq, ranked third in the number of applications.

In terms of total number of asylum seekers in April, Germany received 2,959 requests for asylum, which is 16.1 percent less than in February and 23.7 percent more than in April last year.

After the number of asylum seekers from Serbia dramatically increased last year, the relevant German authorities said that people coming from Serbia, as a country with stable development, have no chance of obtaining political asylum, and the state has ceased to provide assistance for the return of rejected asylum seekers.
