U.S. companies have invested over USD 1.5 billion in Serbia and we hope more investors will come in the future, U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Mary Warlick said in an interview for the Wednesday edition of Sremske Novine.

This is another effort from our country to foster the economy and boost employment in your country, said Warlick, who visited Sremska Mitrovica two days ago.

The ambassador assessed that the relations between Serbia and the U.S. are excellent, and reminded that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited Serbia in October last year, while Vice President Joseph Biden came two years ago.

Both sent a clear message that the United States strongly support Serbia's EU integration. They also clearly expressed that the U.S. and Serbia have a lot of common interests and very good relations, and that we will try to further strengthen this cooperation in the future, Warlick noted.

During her visit to Sremska Mitrovica, the ambassador met with Mayor Branislav Nedimovic to discuss foreign investments and the establishment of an office for economic and local development.

The Americans are the biggest employers in the city, as U.S. company Eaton employs 1,100 workers.
