After a two-day drop, the dinar will strengthen against the euro by 20 paras on Wednesday, thus setting the official middle exchange rate at RSD 96.7744, the National Bank of Serbia released.
On May 19, the central bank announced that it would buy a total of EUR 40 million at the interbank foreign exchange market in the next 20 days, so as to ease excessive daily volatility of the exchange rate. The data on daily purchases are not published.
In 2011, the Serbian currency hit its lowest level against the euro on January 6, when the official middle exchange rate was RSD 106.4947, while it reached its highest level on May 23, with the exchange rate at RSD 96.7007.
