According to NBS assessments, the inter-annual inflation will continue to drop in the next period and should arrive within the limits of target inflation in the first half of 2012.

Inter-annual inflation returned to the one-digit zone in September and totalled 9.3 per cent, the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) released on Wednesday.

According to NBS assessments, the inter-annual inflation will continue to drop in the next period and should arrive within the limits of target inflation in the first half of 2012.

Factors that will contribute to the disinflation process comprise low aggregate demand, stabilisation of food prices, slower rise of state-regulated prices and the drop of inflationary expectations which has already begun.

The pace of the inflationary drop will depend on the developments on the international market and the effects of the fiscal policy, the NBS stated in the release.

According to the NBS plans, the 2011 target inflation should total 4.5 plus or minus 1.5 per cent.

According to the data the Serbian Statistical Office released on Wednesday, the growth of prices of consumer products in September totalled 0.2 per cent.
