Health Minister Bujar Osmani addressed Tuesday EU conference "E-Health 2010" in Barcelona, which adopted a declaration on European cooperation in e-health.

The declaration confirms EU's political and strategic determination in use of e-health as an instrument for achievement of health goals and priorities at a European and national level, building trust towards accepting e-health standards, building legal and ethical principles in providing protection of personal health data, establishment of interoperability, linking e-health with innovations and research, as well as processes of cohesion and inclusion in society.

Minister Osmani said in his address that the Health Ministry is currently implementing two large projects on establishment of a system of e-health card and integrated health information system.

EU health ministers urged for coordination in areas where e-health influences people's health, synergy in areas of competitiveness, research and regional development, as well as use of IT instruments in health for the benefit of patients, healthcare systems and society.
