The project for paid public parking in Tirana was firstly applied in the “Deshmoret e Kombit” Boulevard and in the “Italia” Square. This is an initiative of the municipality of Tirana, which aims at avoiding traffic and unnecessary vehicle circulation.
Representatives of the municipality of Tirana said that citizens have shown a great interest in this initiative, and in the meantime, they explain the respective procedures.
“Citizens come and they buy a ticket for the time they will spend here. They carry all the necessary procedures. They scratch the side of the ticket, where there is the actual month and year, the time and the minutes. The ticket is valid for the number of hours the citizen has paid. There are one-hour, two-hour and three-hour tickets,” said official of the municipality of Tirana Perparim Goxhaj.
What happens if the citizens exceed the paid term? Which administrative measures are taken in this case?
“If the citizen exceeds the paid term, then we follow other procedures. Based on the respective law, he could be fined by other organisms, such as the Municipal Police, with a maximal value of Lek 3,000 or his vehicle could be seized,” said Goxhaj.
Citizens of Tirana say that this project of the municipality is a good idea, but at the same time they accept that the price is a little high.
According to the declarations of the municipality’s authorities, the pilot project for public parking is expected to be soon applied even in other parts of Tirana.
