Greek customs officers are preventing Albanian citizens with incomplete documentation to cross the country’s border, after the decision to abolish Schengen visas, which had come into force on December 15.
Greek customs officers are preventing Albanian citizens with incomplete documentation to cross the country’s border, after the decision to abolish Schengen visas, which had come into force on December 15.
At the Kakavije border crossing, in the last 24 hours, 27 of 340 Albanian citizens traveling to Greece were prevented from entering the country, the ATA Agency reported.
Ever since the no-visa regime has been introduced, more than 100 Albanians were returned from the border. Albanian Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities pointed out that they are in contact with the Greek authorities, and that they hope the misunderstandings will soon be off the agenda.
More than 500,000 Albanians who crossed the border illegally during the 90s currently live in Greece.
Despite the widespread informative campaign regarding the abolition of visas, Albanian citizens are being returned from the border because of the lack of necessary documents or the certain amount of money. Sometimes, they are asked to provide confirmation that their Greek host has no criminal record.

Lack of necessary documents?....certain amount of money?Greek host has no criminal record?...They have killed so many Albanians in the last 20 years and no one told them anything.....most of the killings are done by the police and the Greek government don't do anything....remember the parade in the middle of Athens when Greek solders shouting racist songs against Albanians in front of the Greek PRIME MINISTER.....IS NOT A BIG DEAL TO BE RETURNED BACK FROM GREEKS.....Greece is the country of HATE.

Its sick they dont allow Albanians in. They still cant belive that we can actually travel wothout visa. Not many people want to go there on holiday its not better then in albania. But lots of Albanians have relatives who want to visit, thats the main reason. There is no reason why they should ask ppl if their host has criminal record. No is responsible for what people and relatives do there. As long as you clear yourself you should be nable to travel. free....
