Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said today that the Visegrad Four (V4) countries strongly support the EU accession of the Western Balkans, but stressed that the outcome of the debate in the EU on the future of the Western Balkans in December is not certain.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic said today that the Visegrad Four (V4) countries strongly support the EU accession of the Western Balkans, but stressed that the outcome of the debate in the EU on the future of the Western Balkans in December is not certain.

Jeremic said after the meeting of foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group and the Western Balkans in Prague that it was good that Poland, that is chairing the EU, as well as other countries of the Visegrad Group have a clear position regarding the future of the European process in the Balkans.

He said that all countries of the Visegrad Group support the EU accession of the Western Balkans, which is of great importance because the whole Europe is in deep crisis, and one of the consequences of this crisis is reduced willingness to support the enlargement process.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that the meeting in Prague was attended by all foreign ministers of Western Balkan countries, as well as the Slovene Foreign Minister and UNMIK representative, whose delegation also included a representative of Pristina authorities.

It is important that the Visegrad Group, the EU and the Czech Republic, as the host, respected all requirements for participation of Pristina’s provisional institutions in regional meetings, i.e. that they are within the delegation of UNMIK under UN Resolution 1244, added the Minister
