The exhibition "Taste of Greece" was inaugurated on March 20 at the premises of the European parliament. Greek Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Petros Alivizatos, in his address, underlined that the Greek gastronomy's potentials as a tourist product have not been exploited as much as they should.
The Greek products offer a special quality which the tourists seek when they are in Greece as well as on the supermarket shelves in their own country.
Vice president of the European Commission, responsible for entrepreneurship issues Antonio Tajani and the president of the European People's Party (EPP) in the European Parliament Joseph Daul were present at the event.
Alivizatos, in the framework of his visit to Brussels, had a meeting in private with Tajani who spoke with enthusiasm of Greece's efforts and reassured that the European Commission supports Greece and will continue to do so in the future.
Moreover, he expressed his faith that Greek tourism is a sector that provides the potential for a viable and sustainable development, adding that he will visit Athens on April 20 to discuss the new financing programmes for tourism.
