February consumer prices up 0.3% month-on-month

The consumer prices in February 2010, compared to the same month of 2009, increased by 3.9%, and in comparison to December 2009 by 0.7%.

The Statistics Office said that prices of goods and services in February went up by 0.3% on average compared to January 2010.

The statement said that consumer prices in February 2010, compared to the same month of 2009, increased by 3.9%, and in comparison to December 2009 by 0.7%.

Breaking observation down into main groups of products and services, the biggest price increase was recorded in the groups of furniture, household equipment and routine maintenance (1.4%), transport and education (0.9% each), communal services, gas and other fuels (0.8%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.5%), while the prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks recorded a fall of 0.4%.

The prices of other products and services did not change significantly.
