Serbia needs to find a creative solution for Kosovo before it joins the EU, said Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Ðelic.

He told EurActiv.de that Belgrade hoped that Serbia would be ready to join the EU in late 2015 and stated that possible solutions for Kosovo could be modeled after Hong Kong and two Germanies, Prištinabased Albanian language daily Koha Ditore reported.

Ðelic has assessed that "such compromise would guarantee economic and political autonomy of Kosovo, without jeopardizing Serbia's territorial integrity."

"We cannot have a longterm peace if we support one nationalism against the other. It's good to support the European kind of compromise which is not satisfactory but it is functional," he was quoted as saying.
