European Movement in Serbia Secretary General Maja Bobic said Monday that Serbia has received a serious warning, because EU member countries, especially Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden and some others, have been flooded by a wave of so-called fake asylum seekers from Serbia.

European Movement in Serbia Secretary General Maja Bobic said Monday that Serbia has received a serious warning, because EU member countries, especially Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden and some others, have been flooded by a wave of so-called fake asylum seekers from Serbia.

Many people are citing political problems and threatened political rights in the country, which is completely baseless, because they are really leaving for economic reasons, Bobic pointed out on the Radio and Television of Serbia morning news.

She believes the police need to enforce stricter border control and investigate those who organize such trips and make it possible for the fake asylum seekers to leave the country. This will reduce their numbers and ensure Serbia's place on the White Schengen List, she said.

Talking about the visit of European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, who will open an EU info center in Dom Omladine in Belgrade on May 9, Bobic said that the center will be a place offering information about the EU to all citizens.

It is the practice of the EC to open such centers in all EU member and aspiring member countries to interact with the people and provide information about education opportunities in the EU, travel, politics and cultural events, she explained.

I was in Belgium at one time nearly ten years ago. I felt a strong dislike for Serbians.
