EULEX’s mandate is to implement the rule of law, which includes conducting police and customs operations at Gates 1 and 31. KFOR's role includes ensuring that other international organisations, including EULEX, are not prevented from carrying out their mission.

This morning, EULEX, supported by troops from KFOR, is acting to support the rule of law and restore authorised routes close to Gate 1 Jarinje in northern Kosovo. Unauthorised crossing points are being closed.

EULEX’s mandate is to implement the rule of law, which includes conducting police and customs operations at Gates 1 and 31. KFOR's role includes ensuring that other international organisations, including EULEX, are not prevented from carrying out their mission.

“Unauthorised routes evade legitimate controls and road blocks are illegal and help no one. It is important that the situation in the north of Kosovo is brought back to normal as soon as possible, for the benefit of everyone”, said the Acting Head of EULEX, Andy Sparkes.

KFOR and EULEX support a safe and secure environment in Kosovo for all communities. We will continue our actions to support freedom of movement and establish the rule of law, carefully and impartially.
