Bulgaria’s businesses concentrated in Sofia

Before the crisis, the region of the City of Sofia had the largest number of registered enterprises – 73,000, or 24% of all enterprises nationwide.

Before the crisis, the region of the City of Sofia had the largest number of registered enterprises – 73,000, or 24% of all enterprises nationwide.

It is followed by the region of Plovdiv with 29,000 enterprises or 9.5%. The Black Sea capital Varna has more than 25,000 registered enterprises.

The figures come from a survey of the Bulgarian Industrial Association. In terms of sales revenues Sofia leads the chart with a share of 49%, followed by the region of Burgas with 8% and by the regions of Plovdiv and Varna with 7% each.
